POST #4: "In the belly of the moon"

Mexico. México. Meksiko. Mexique. Mexiko. Мексика. เม็กซิโก.

The most populated Spanish speaking country in the world. The place where water, fire, earth and air coexist in peace and armony. The place where mariachi music, tequila, tacos and tortillas were born. The unwanted neighbor the USA. The place where everybody use "sombrero" and drinks all day long. These and much more is what the world think Mexico is. If you are one of them, you better pay a lot of attention cause your are about to discover the real essence of the land of the Aztecs.

Mexico is a huge country to be exact the number 13 in the list of countries in the world. In all its vast territory you can find basically any climate you like. From the desert to the mountains, from beach to the jungle, from the mediteranian to the tundra. Mexico has it all.

Culture and traditions have been part of Mexico since its begining. The colors and the smells surrounds the air of every street and the music flows in the wind. You might feel overwhelm at the start if you are not use to the chaos but the true is that between the chaos you will find an order and a perfect harmony.

Most of the people think Mexico is a warm country and it is, but not because of its weather but because of its habitants. Mexican are warm and kind heart persons that will  do everything in their hands to make you feel welcome.

Food. That is one of the most difficult topic to talk about...because there is too much! The flavours and ingredients are most of them local so is impossible to find anything better out of the country. I must advice you that if you are not you use to spice you better be careful about what you eat. And NEVER trust a Mexican when they tell: "mmm no... it's not spicy at all".

Saddly most of the people don't know anything about all these wonderful things I just mention, the only thing it pops into their minds at the sound of Mexico is crime, narcotraffic, murderer, corruption, etc, etc. It's such a shame Mexico's name have been stained in such a horrible. I won't deny at all that all of those thing happend in Mexico, but what I want to emphasize is that it happens everywhere. European countries also have crime, narcotraffic, murderers, corruptions, maybe in a lower scale but they have.

In conclusion, I encourage you to stop judging a book by it's cover and start finding out by yourself what it's the world like. Finding out how truely Mexico is.
